Project Social Distancing by Britt

Dear friends and readers,

The pandemic has affected us in many ways. For myself, it has been exhausting and dreadful to handle because of the long lockdowns. Even so, I still have some source of income and a place to stay under. Others are not so fortunate. Some lost their source of income. Some lost their homes. Some lost both, and some lost their loved ones.

I would love to share about a project by a fellow writer, including her message.

My name is June Hew also known as Britt. I’m a 40 years old Chinese diaspora living in Malaysia. I’ve been suffering from mental health problem for many year s and things spiralled out of control 4 year s ago. I started seeking medical help then because I couldn’t conceal my condition anymore. The same time I lose my livelihood, losing my job and being without support.

I’ve started a website recently to slowly get back to writing. I was very active before everything went out of my control. Started selling printed t-shirt hoping to help with my daily expenses.

Write Ally! Write! 2018 Rewind

hny2019

Hey all,

I was trying to clear some drafts and this post has been stuck for few years now. I was not feeling good back then. I was not ready to share anything. I was not ready to face anything in life.

I don’t feel like deleting it because I don’t want to forget. Well, I am sharing it here.

Greetings everyone,

Annually, I would write about the highlights of my blog for the year.

Usually, I would post it before the new year of a week after but this time it is unavoidable. It is already two weeks in January and I am struggling to write my posts.

I would summarize things that happened to me, to serve as lesson for myself. I will share with you the most viewed posts in 2018. Plus, my plan and expectations in 2019.

What Happened 2018?

I would call my early 2018 was hectic, personal point of view. I was wondering what am I and the definition of myself. Things were looking pretty tensed and the workload was quite crazy too.

Towards the end of February, I lost my grandmother, she was sick for few months that time. We already had plan to fly to Indonesia before that, we already bought the ticket for her. It was really heartbreaking for me every time I have to remember back. In March, me and my family fly to Indonesia, specifically to Bawean Island. It was more than 20 years since my last visit.

Nothing much except the crazy amount of work. I started to feel anxious about my workload in mid 2018. I believe I wrote less posts too.

In December, I tendered my resign and served a month notice. However, to ease the transition, I will be working as a temp for a month until 31st January 2019. The reason for my resignation was ‘I can no longer handle my depression’.

I was diagnosed and I have severe depression. For the first time in my life, I finally have the courage to see a doctor. The symptoms was not new, I have been cooping up with my depression since I was 10.

2017 REWIND! Write Ally Write!

2017 REWIND.png

Fellow readers and friends,

We are few days away to celebrate a new year, 2018! If I were to describe my 2017, it was rejections, eye-opening, hopeful, eventful, emotional, freedom, wise and lovely. The events happened this year are mostly work related and there are some personal stuff but manageable. Hopefully.

It is the year where I quit my 2 years job as a Associate/ Content Editor. Then, I had a very short career break for 4 months. Where I mostly used to write more and explore more of my creative side. Then, I was hired to work in an investment bank and enjoying my time learning in the HR department.

2017 also quite memorable because I went to travel alone to Kuching and really enjoyed myself there.

I managed to publish two e-books:

1. Ally And The Daily Prompt (March 2017)
2. The Thirty Days (June 2017)

My e-books are free and available in different formats. Do support me by leaving a rating in Goodreads and share it with your friends and family!

You can find my Goodreads page through here: Ally Mare Goodreads

All my book projects are currently on halt and my writing time has been tremendously cut down. I am mostly busy with work right now. I will try my best to spend my time in writing!

As I did last year, I present you my Top 10 poems in 2017! The top list are based on views!

  2. Let’s Talk About Texting (November)
  3. The Talented Musician, Yuta Tanaka (September)
  4. Did They Approved? (June)
  5. Signs of A Loyal Person (October)

That’s all for the lists section.

Moving on, 2017 is also a year where I managed to meet wonderful people! I also managed to meet with other writers too!

Special shout out to these wonderful people! Thank you for your time and hopefully we will meet again!

SPECIAL SHOUTOUT

Singledust @ Living on the equator but longing for snow

Red Beanie

Mintly @ Mints Blog

Yuta Tanaka / YOUTUBE

And I hope I will be able to meet more writers, bloggers and talented people in 2018. Lets have a cup of coffee together! Do check their sites for wonderful posts.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2018

Other than hoping all the good things, I don’t really have anything else to ask. I will just be busy with work, movies, buying books that I have no time to read, meeting new faces, travelling, and hopefully a partner? Exciting isn’t it?

That’s all for now. I wish you all the best in 2018. To me, entering a new year is just the same. It’s not about having a resolution or having the perfect plan but its how I would spend my time in the best way I can. I do have plans and I’m working on it but ultimately, I want to enjoy every moment that I have with the people around me, the time for myself, and do the things that I want. It’s much more interesting that way, isn’t it?

That’s all for now. I wish you all a happy new year!

Blurb

A hard breakup made James’ life difficult and he had no motivation on his work or his life. Things changed when he accidentally met his college crush after few years since their graduation. James could not tell how he feels directly, so he wrote his crush, Anna, love letters which he could not send.

All comments are appreciated! Thank you very much and have a great weekend!

[NEW FREE E-BOOK] The Thirty Days by Ally L. Mare

Hi fellow readers and friends!

How is your weekend? I hope everything is fine and lovely!

I have published my third poetry e-book and like the previous two… It is FREE!

The Thirty Days is a compilation of my NaPoWriMo writing this year and it was my first NaPoWriMo experience! I was quite fortunate to be able in completing the challenge.

Some of the prompts  were challenging and definitely not easy to be approached. To be honest, I feel satisfied and happy completing the challenge. I can’t help it  but  to say, I am proud of my work! I hope you guys are proud too on your work!

I know NaPoWriMo was two months ago. I actually completed the book last month but my schedule and motivation doesn’t really mixed well. However, I managed to publish it today!

The Thirty Days by Ally L Mare

NaPoWriMo 2017-

There are pretty much other stuff that has been pending in my work. Something like my Inkitt Novella. Yes, I am caught red handed. I haven’t finished uploading the whole Novella. My only reason would be, I don’t have the privilege of time at the moment. The only thing I can do right now is to complete it one by one.

Anyway, thank you for reading and I hope you guys download and read my new ebook and do leave some rating! I seriously appreciate rating and feedback from all of you.

Ally And The 1000 Followers!

Malaysia – Last week, Write Ally! Write! has reached a new milestone. The blog now have more than 1000 followers. It was a good news for the author, Ally L. Mare and he is extremely excited about the achievement.

“I am so excited and happy! I want to say thank you to my lovely friends and followers for the support,” said Ally when he was interviewed and asked how he feels about the achievement.

Write Ally! Write! is a blog that shares the poetry works of Ally L. Mare. Occasionally, Ally would include other segments such as ‘Ally’s Thought’ which focused on his personal opinion in movies and other issues, and his popular segment ‘Movies In Six Words’ is a six words story describing a movie. Ally shared posts from other bloggers as well.

Other than being happy for his WordPress blog achievement, he also mentioned that he also started to work again last week. “I was accepted to join one of the biggest Investment Bank in Malaysia. It was the top IB bank in 2014 too. I will be there for six months and will definitely use this opportunity well.”

Ally also apologized in advance for the future delay that will happen for his posts. He mentioned that his work place is quite far from his home, that will take a lot of his time.

As for his future plan for the blog, he wants to achieve the next milestone but steadily maintaining his current performance. He teased that by the end of NaPoWriMo, he might release another book. Other than his blog, Ally did mentioned about a Youtube channel project with a friend of his. Not much was mentioned though.

Hi everyone! How is your weekend?

Thank you for the amazing support and encouragement! I will never achieve this without my fellow friends and followers. You guys helped me to achieve my dream, share my poems to the whole world! You name it, US, UK, India, Australia, Philippine, Hong Kong, Canada, Indonesia, the European countries and my own country Malaysia.

Before I end this post, let me share something.

A poet without readers is a book that lost its purpose, but a poet with readers is a chain to connect others.

That’s all for now! I hope that you will keep on supporting me! Have a great day, everyone!

[TAG] The Blue Sky Tag #2

2.Answer their 11 questions
3.Tag 11 people
4.Give them 11 questions to answer

THE QUESTIONS

What inspire you to blog?
– I was inspired when I started to focus on writing again. Poetry mainly. Instead of just writing them in my book, I wanted to share it with the whole world. My current guess, I still shared less than 1% of the world population.

How do you get ideas for blogging?
– Just about anything actually. From watching a movie, listening to songs, reading others, eating cake and more.

How do you define poetry?
– For me, poetry is a voice. A voice that wanted to be share with others. Do you agree?

Do you consider poetry as a form of art?
– Of course, poetry and other literature works are the art of words. Poetic is artistic in a sense.

How often do you read posts in Reader on Word Press?
– Daily. I read them daily. In the morning, afternoon and evening.

Do you agree that writing is a form of healing?
– I agree. Sometimes we can’t express ourselves fully. If we are angry, we might just snapped and smash something in front of us. However, when we write them, we tend express it in a different form. Once, you are done with the final period. Tell me, isn’t that the most satisfying feeling?

Does writing promotes mental relaxation for you?
– Sometime yes and sometimes no. I can be drained sometimes especially when I’m doing prompts.

Have you tried writing for kids?
– I never really think about it.

Who is your favorite author?
– Jane Austen. Just because I really love her books.

Who is your favorite poet?
– Emily Dickinson. I like her choice of words, her forms, her voice in her poems and themes. Some or if not most of my poems influenced by her works.

Any favorite poems?
– I’m nobody! Who are you? by Emily Dickinson.

I NOMINATE

MY QUESTIONS

  1. What was the last book you read?
  2. What are you trying to achieve with your blog?
  3. Do you think you are someone with a sense of humor?
  4. Imagine 10 years ago. How does that make you feel about yourself now?
  5. How would your friend describe you?
  6. Do you have hobbies that others might find unusual?
  7. Have you done anything illegal?
  8. If you ended up being a prisoner, what likely to be the reason?
  9. What most likely the thing that will get you angry?
  10. How do you handle yourself when you are angry?
  11. Best thing to eat when you are angry?

I actually drafted this post for quite some time because I’m lost on what to ask and some busy interviews in between. Pardon me for it. I hope everyone have a great day ahead! I wish you all the best.
